NYECA Participates in Annual Legislative Conference

Last month, NYECA participated in NECA’s Annual Legislative Conference. The event focused on in-person advocacy, with meetings arranged between NYECA and lawmakers to promote policies supporting job creation, energy independence, and infrastructure investment on the Federal level as well as New York-specific issues. The three main federal topics covered was the preservation of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the Death Tax Repeal Act, and the increase of the State and Local Tax (SALT) cap.

Other highlights included a fireside chat with Congressman Rob Bresnahan and remarks from several members of Congress, all underscoring the vital role of skilled trades. Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer advocated for workforce modernization and apprenticeships. NECA CEO David Long also announced a new partnership with Google to incorporate AI tools into training programs, aiming to educate 100,000 workers and 30,000 apprentices.

This conference is one of the most beneficial conferences NECA puts on and we encourage any members who would like to be involved and attend next year to let the Association Office know.
