Founded in 1943, The JIB administers all the plans and benefits that are collectively bargained between Local Union No. 3 of the IBEW and the employer contractors of New York. It also coordinates all labor-management efforts for construction division members and over 300 contributing affiliated contractors. Through this progressive collective bargaining process, the JIB has facilitated the creation of many successful employee benefit plans, providing health, education, retirement services as well as many other plans to members and their families. More than 70,000 people benefit from many of the jointly administered plans and programs created and maintained by the JIB.
ELECTRI International ¬ The Foundation for the Electrical Construction Industry ¬ was founded in 1989 by the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) as the key research and educational organization for the $100 billion electrical contracting industry, with the primary purpose of providing electrical contractors with information they require to do better business.
Electri International funds, conducts, coordinates and monitors the industry’s most critical research and commission and deliver exemplary management education and supervisory training programs.
Local 3 of the International Brotherhood Electrical Workers is the union affiliate of the New York Electrical Contractors Association. New York Electrical members maintain their collective bargaining agreements with the Local who maintains a Code of Excellence to bring out the best in its construction members and demonstrate to its customers that it accomplishes the following:
Membership in the Building Trades Employers’ Association (BTEA) begins with joining one of our 27 trade union contractor associations, representing the 1,700 construction managers, general contractors and specialty subcontractor firms in New York City, who employ 120,000 people. Our members range in size from multi-billion dollar internationally recognized firms to small and mid-sized specialty trade contracting firms. New York Electrical is a member of the BTEA.
The Building & Construction Trades Council of Greater New York, an organization Consisting of local affiliates of 15 national and international unions representing 100,000 working men and women in the New York City.
International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) has, since 1928, been a core leader in the electrical industry and has actively promoted safe products and safe installations. Active members and partners in the association include many diverse groups, including electrical inspectors, testing agencies, standards organizations, manufacturers, distributors, installers and contractors. The association has a long and recognized history in comprehensive training in and promotion of safe products, electrical installations and inspections in order to ensure compliance with electrical codes and standards.

Established in 2004, the NYFAA is a professional association representing those who serve the automatic fire detection and fire alarm systems industry in the New York City Metropolitan Area. Members include many segments of the alarm industry: Fire Alarm Systems Distributors, Service Organizations, Approved Central Station Monitoring Companies, Fire Equipment Manufacturers and Engineering Firms.

In its day to day activities, STA represents its members in dealing with the public agencies, authorities and private developers. STA’s philosophy centers on dispute resolution without the need for litigation, and the association has served its members well in this regard. Initiating informational meetings between the owner, the General Contractor, the Construction Manager and the subcontractor have proved to be most successful.
On the rare occasion when this approach has failed to produce results, members may be afforded the services of our legal counsel. The resulting “umbrella” legal action allows all affected subcontractors to share in a single representation. Legal fees are shared on a basis that is proportional to the claim and the strength of multiple representation is very evident in eventual resolution.
